We go to the Pantages theater fairly regularly during the course of the season. It's one of those great date spots, when you get to see some really incredible entertainment. One of our favorite things about going to the theater is grabbing a meal at one of the many restaurants in and around that area. There are so many fast food/fast casual restaurants in the area that appeal to tourists that it takes that extra minute of research to find the places that real foodies go. Our most recent find was Beauty & Essex, which turned out to be an amazing find. This time, because we were seeing a matinee and wanted to eat lunch before instead of grabbing dinner after, we opted to try Running Goose, a little bistro tucked away on Cahuenga, In the middle of a happening bar scene, which on Sunday was location of every football game on television. But that didn't change the ambience inside. It was quiet and serene. It really felt like nobody else was watching. The service was incredible. We never felt like we were rushed, we always felt like we were served, we never needed to ask for refills, or for anything else. The owners were very polite and answered all of our questions, even delivering several pointed and on target recommendations. It's always nice when your server is so familiar with the menu that simply telling them what you like will elicit multiple good recommendations. And that's what we received. At such a low price point, it felt like a crime if we didn't each get a tostada as an appetizer. For $4, you get an absolutely delicious and refreshing couple of bites. I ordered the corn tostada; burnt corn aioli, whole kernel burnt corn, lime, basil and parsley. The flavors really blended nicely, so tasty. My wife ordered the radish tostada; thin sliced radish over rosemary crema, lime and EVOO. She demurely inhaled it. Both were perfect starts. For mains, we both had real issues with making a choice. The menu had literally a dozen items that would have been satisfying (word choice intended, we were headed to Hamilton). I settled on the Gringo Burger, an amalgam of interesting ingredients that built nicely to a great combination. Mid rare angus half pound patty with a Roquefort fondue (thus the "french inspired"), bacon, balsamic onions, garlic aioli, arugula on a brioche bun, with fries. One of the best burgers I've had in a very long time. It really reminded me of the value of a properly cooked burger. Those ingredients NEEDED medium rare. My wife had the vegan vindaloo. She's a freak for good Indian cuisine and this really blew her away. The dish was a flavor bomb of tofu crema (vegan) trio beans, corn, cauliflower, kale, peas, and an amazing turmeric and garam masala pesto, served with grilled bread. She loved it so much that she actually brought it home...we kept the car at a cool enough temperature so it would stay. She happily has lunch today. This was a magnificent meal and I highly recommend going...as a pre/post theater meal...or any time. You'll love it.

We had a lovely time at the running goose. The staff checked on us frequently, they made sure our waters were full, and answered any questions we had about the menu. The restaurant is gorgeous. It has lots of plants and generally has an outdoor patio vibe. The food was amazing, they had a lot of different choices for our friend who is vegetarian. The food tended to have very unique flavors and fusions. I am definitely coming back to try more dishes and drinks!

Perfection. The appetizers are nothing short of spectacular. From the first bite of the gambas, it was clear to me that the chef here doesn't just cook - they create art. The server Angela was nothing short of perfect. She was able to answer all of my questions in great detail and guided me to choose the perfect dishes to my liking. Thank you, you are the best!! Then, the main course arrived, the fettuccine with shrimp. A symphony of flavors that will engage all of your senses. For anyone seeking a meal that is both unforgettable and extraordinary, this place is an absolute must-visit. I have gone as far as coming in weekly at the minimum, turning my uneventful Friday nights into a remarkable experience. Prepare to be amazed and thoroughly satisfied.

Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city is this quaint little gem with a beautiful outdoor dining area that feels like a secret escape. The serene ambiance set the perfect tone for a relaxing and delicious meal. We started with the soup and veggies of the day, and they were as unique as they were refreshing. The watermelon strawberry basil gazpacho was a bright and flavorful blend, perfect for a warm day, while the house-fried carrots had an irresistible crispy texture and depth of flavor. For the entrée, we indulged in the Chèvre Gnocchi with forest mushrooms, kale, chili flakes, browned sage butter, and parmesan. Every bite was a masterpiece--the creamy chèvre paired with the earthy mushrooms and the warmth of the browned butter was absolute perfection. To finish, we enjoyed the Pavlova for dessert--a delightful combination of vanilla meringue, ice cream, hibiscus syrup, and fresh berries. Light, sweet, and perfectly balanced, it was the kind of dessert you never want to end. Our host took the experience to another level by explaining every detail and ingredient of each dish, making the meal even more memorable. The thought and care put into the flavors are something I'll remember for a lifetime. If you're looking for a place to escape the city and indulge in unforgettable flavors, this is the spot.

Really enjoyed the food and ambiance at the Running Goose. My family came by on the hottest day of the year, otherwise we would have eaten at their patio in the back. Ordered the "Farm Vegetable" as a starter, a delicious and flavorful serving of carrots, boiled and pan seared in a wine sauce and chili flakes with aioli. Also got a tasty beet and apple gazpacho soup, followed by the Lamb Tagine (cooked nicely with couscous) and a Gringo Burger with fries (really nice). Friendly servers and a nice experience overall. Thanks Goose!

This place is a tiny oasis in the bustle of Hollywood. Their patio is beautiful and full of plants. You can completely forget where you are. I brought my partner here on a date night and it was perfect! Both servers who helped us were incredibly friendly and helped us choose our meal. We shared everything we ordered. - The grilled corn tostada was cute and had a great crunch. - The smoked beet quesadilla was much larger than we expected and filling, but not very smoky at all. - The gnocchi was light and tender with tons of parmesan and the mushrooms added a great earthiness. - The lamb tagine was so tender and flavorful. It came with a delicious spicy red sauce on the side that went surprisingly well with the gnocchi, too. - We finished with the bread pudding which was tender and so comforting. My partner also had the sparkling rosé and seemed to really enjoy it.

I really enjoyed my dinner here. We arrived before a show and the waiter was very efficient and understood we had limited time to time. Notwithstanding this, the meal was well paced and delicious. For my main dish I had the Salmon with roasted apple risotto, parmesan garlic cream, pomegranate glazed mushroom. It was cooked perfectly and very moist and flavorful. The presentation was elegant and unique. Parking? All I can say is good luck as parking lots nearby are costly and frequently full. I parked blocks away and enjoyed a brisk walk. I highly recommend this establishment.

This place is hard to immediately locate! We loved it, and my boyfriend and I quickly formed an impression that we enjoyed the backyard patio vibes; I was able to make a reservation at 4:30 pm for 5 pm. We ordered the calamari, tomato, radish tostada, and duck entree to split. After enjoying some drinks, We returned to the appetizer section to order the baked brie. We were curious about their creative take on dishes. I got the good old belching beavers peanut butter stout (something I'm familiar with) and my boyfriend got their sangrias. Unique duck dish for $31. I would love to have this again. It makes me feel very festive and warm Inside. Tomato tostata was also a standout, the red sauce pairing for the calamari was good. Disappointed that the calamari was half the size of the portion I was expecting. Also the melted brie wont be everyone's taste. (Not strong enough taste) Its extremely busy by the time I leave at 6 pm. Great place. Bring friends and good company to enjoy the food. Leave out coffee/networking to fully focus and enjoy the food lol.
